How valuable are these knives? I use a Dremel and a bronze brush for anything rusted but not valuable. A valuable knife should not be treated that way though. It will leave marks. A belt sander with the right belt can do the job quickly also. I use a very fine grit sandpaper belt sometimes. Or just a file if it's something like a garden tool.
