Welcome to the forum.

Didn't give us much to go on, most models have their own serial # range that duplicates other models.

It has to be a 6 shot K frame 38 Spl M&P Model of 1905 - 4th Change from about the mid 1930's if the # has no preceding letters to the butt serial #.

However, if the ? does not represent a 6th digit and the # came from the butt of the grip frame:

It can be a 5 shot .38 S&W Terrier post war Transitional I frame which only has a 5 digit #. It shipped in very late 1950 or early 1951.

It could also be a 38 Spl Chiefs Special Model of 1953 New J frame shipped in early 1955.
