If it is a K frame with serial number 57736 (five digits), it would be from 1903-04, so much too early to have a 2" barrel. Even if it is six digits (57736x), it would be from the 1920s and a 2" barrel is highly unlikely.

I'm wondering if 57736 is from the yoke and yoke cut. If so, we don't know the serial number.

The bottom line is we really have no idea what revolver is being described here.
