I have owned an M&P9 since they first came out, about 10years ago. I never could get used to the 2x4 feel of a Glock and never shot them well. When the original all black with a front night sight SD9 came out, I found one on sale for $299 and decided to try it.

Besides the M&P and Glock 17, I also have a Steyr M9-A1. My ex USMC step son brought along his Beretta PX4 and Baby Eagle. We shot all of the, side by side. No malfunctions at all in over 300 rounds, none with any of the pistols. Surprisingly we both were the most accurate with the SD9.

I find the trigger to be fine, very similar to the M&P trigger. The Steyr has the best trigger of the bunch.

These days In full size guns. I own three of the SD9’s and two Steyr 9mm’s.

I haven’t seen an FDE or any other color SD9, the FDE version would be tempting. Academy has an exclusive version for $349, all black with fiber optic sights front and rear.
