Others shot in the same place by the same ammo may have perished at a very high percent .. and those dead went to the morgue ..

My wife spent several years as an ER nurse. People would be brought in and when they evaluated their injuries it didn’t seem possible they could make it, but they did.
Others would come in with what looked like minor injuries and not make it out of the ER.
I suspect it has a lot to do with the individual’s resilience as well as the severity of the injury.
