This is what they/I did ..

Long time Union Rep in a larger manufacturing plant .. with several in the area for this Company .. After Union meetings reps in the area I worked would meet over a beer and lunch and discuss things happening in our area's ..

One Rep brought up a man that was seen with a pistol in shop .. The company's no gun's no ammo policy had been upheld in the past in firings .. This was 1997 long before Illinois had conceal carry ..

Vote was running 50-50 till it was brought up the guys ex was shacking with another employee that many didn't know about ..

The vote then turn ..
The following Monday the employee was told if we saw him with the pistol in the building or parking lot he would be turned in ..

It was done for the safety of all workers .. The man was transferred to another unit shortly afterwards and no longer worked in the plant we did .. Was he comp templating an action ?? We don't know but we all felt in this instance we had done the right thing ..

So you really need to know ALL the facts and whether the man has a motive to carry there ..

We had almost voted not to say anything ..
