Larry and Guy,

Neither of your guns can be polished and reblued, the pitting is way too deep. The reason S&W won't work on them; they would only replace the barrels and cyl if they had them.

Micro welding is the only option and it works very well!

Then I'd send them for a Carbonia Refinish: See post #12 for example here: Looking for Suggestions for a Refinishing Shop
