If you can wear an appropriate covering garment (lifestyle or climate) no problem carrying a 1911. LW Commander type pistols carry easy. When it is 100 degrees out and you can't wear your shirt untucked anything you can't pocket carry makes you miserable, not uncomfortable but miserable. If open carry ever becomes truly acceptable a 1911 would be my first choice. When weather permits a covering garment also my first choice. Only other time it isn't my 1st choice is open carry in the field when I'm woods bumming. Then i prefer a full size revolver.
