Default S&W 629-3 .44 magnum - Year & FMV?

Hi, I found this beauty at a gun show.

I'd like to find out what year it was made and the approximate fair market value. The seller offered $975, and I got him down to $900, but it's just the revolver, no case or owner's manual or anything else that may have accompanied an original, newly purchased revolver. I'm waiting to "research" it before I actually purchase it from him (the gun show was 2 weeks ago). I gave him $50 as a deposit.

It is a S&W 629-3 "Hunter" .44 magnum and it looks like a 5" or 5.5" barrel, stainless steel all the way around, except for the trigger and the hammer (gray plastic). Serial # is BKF195_. Description under S/N is: "MOD 629-3"

Now, OTOH, Cabela's is selling a brand new S&W Model 629 Classic .44 Magnum/.44 S&W Special satin stainless steel with a 5" barrel with a black synthetic hand grip for $899 brand new in the box.

Should I buy the used 629-3 Hunter for $900?

Or should I play it safe and buy the brand new in the box 629 Classic at Cabela's for $899?

This will be my 2nd S&W revolver - I have an older .357 that I am in love with.
