I really like the 44 S&W Special cartridge,
and for that reason like the compact S&W
696.

I refuse to buy Guns off the Internet.

When a S&W 696 came up for sale
local, I could inspect it, and decided
if I want it. All checked out so I
bought it. Price a little north of 1K.

If you end up with a good price and
you like it, buy it.

I have seen those nicks inside the frame
windows before, I won't worry.
