The price is more than OK by most of the standards I know of. For what you got, you probably would have spent $800 or more on one of the big sites. Congratulations on a fine pick-up!
There is a lot of information on this Forum about the Shorty 40. You'll find that it was the first semi-auto produced in the Performance Center, and that the fit and finish are like a custom gun since these were hand made. Rack the slide once and I guarantee it'll bring a smile to your face.
Yours with the SPC prefix is one of about 220 in the "Mark 2" production (not marked on the gun) that following approximately 1500 guns in three production runs of the first version beginning with PCS prefixes.
Others can chime in on the grips question, though I confess that I hadn't heard of Hogues being installed from the factory; Delrin was the usual material, but I suppose anything could have been custom ordered.
You'll enjoy this pistol and it will get its share of range time along with the other 150.
