I keep a new Colt Cobra with a speed strip and a flashlight close at hand with a J frame size Taurus M85 and a speed strip in a fast response safe near by.
Had a 642 & 360J S&W but sold them for the two above because I could shoot +P ammo in the heavier guns (25 & 21oz vs two 14oz revolvers) all day.
To answer your question. Yes the 442 with a speed strip or speed loader is good for a HD gun but it doesn’t hurt to have backup. JMO
The main thing is to practice as much as you are able and use the gun(s) you feel the most comfortable with and shoot well.
A Lady Smith model 60 with hammer is my favorite. It handles 38+P & 357mag with enough weight (21oz)to shoot comfortably.
