Default Sighting in hunting rifles

I got a couple of new rifles and a couple of new scopes. That lead me to playing mix and match with my regular hunting rifles. Which of course means sighting them all back in. After spending some time going through my Hornady ballistics tables and doing some thinking, I decided to sight them all in 3 1/2 high at 100 yards.
Why. Well if they are all sighted the same and most of my quicker shots are usually around 100 yards I don't have to think about which rifle it is. Plus with a that zero they are all good out to except for the 350 Remington mag which would be about 10" low at 300yds, I can handle that and I don't figure to carry it much anyway unless I go black bear hunting. My 2 Remington Mohawks in 6mm (one is for the wife) shooting 100gr spires are close to the same impact at 200yds and only a bit low at 300 yds. My Mohawk in 308 with 165 spires is still a bit high at 200yds and just about 8" low at 300 which I figure is close to its limit. My Ruger 77 300 WM with 180s is 4.3 high at 200 on at 300 and 10" low at 400yds. That works well Once the range is out there aim at top of back. My Ruger 338WM shooting 225s is a bit high at 200 yds just a bit low at 300 and 10"+ at 400. Its an elk country gun and If I use the back of an elk at 400 I am good. More problems getting correct range estimation than ballistic problems. I have a range finder IF I have the right circumstances to use it.

Anyway thats my plan. The 6mms and the 308 are set at that. Next range trip is to feel the joy of bench shooting the 300 and 338. I wear a jacket for those at the bench even when it is warm. Have never noticed the recoil hunting.

My bull barreled 223, 6mm and 25-06 all have 6-18 scopes and are set up different. 223 is a coyote and prairie dog shooter and the 6mm and 25-06 are prairie dog guns. Shooting them I sometimes pick the gun set for the range of the dog I want.
