Given his history and experience, it's pretty easy for the OP to justify carrying two revolvers, if his choice in firearms was challenged in a shooting investigation. Someone who carries a high capacity semi-auto might be asked why they thought they needed 15 or 17 rounds along with extra magazines. Were they looking for a fight?
