I read a long time ago the first hand account of a deputy and his partner who burst into a home to arrest an individual. That man picked up a revolver off the coffee table and pointed it at the deputy. The deputy saw a .44 magnum. Both deputies shot the perp before he could fire.

The gun turned out to be a .22, not a .44. One’s eyes will magnify danger.

I caught a line drive foul ball at a baseball game. I watched it come off the bat and head up towards me beyond first base on the second deck. It probably travelled a little over 1 second. By the time it was about 10’ from me, it appeared the size of a softball—actually a little bigger. I stuck my bare hand up and snagged it easily in front of my face. Total focus on the danger.

Magnification? Yep. Use it to perform better on your side, but do not count on it from the sending end.
