I recommend Shooting to Live, by William Ewart Fairbairn, co-authored by Eric Anthony Sykes, first published in 1942 by Oliver and Boyd (London). Size 4 ¾" X 7" in hardcover with 96 pages. ISBN 0-87364-027-6 (reprint).

Some of the techniques may seem dated, but they are based on decades of police service in some of the most dangerous places in the world.
