Sure, that could be done - for a price. The cost would far exceed the value of the finished product though, since a refinished gun is worth much less than an original specimen. No, to me it makes much more sense to keep it as an ugly old shooter grade example.

Absolutely! After all, the AR was developed specifically for these revolvers. Since you can shoot the .45 Colt, though, that niche is filled.
Exactly - and Colt brass and ammo is much more plentiful and therefore much less expensive than AR.
