It's funny, tastes change. I think Pachmayrs feel great, no question. I personally preferred the Grippers, but the regular presentations felt good too. In fact, back when I started the pistol game back in the late 80s/early 90s, EVERY Smith routinely got the factory grips pulled, and a set of Packies. Strangely, I never warmed up to Hogues.

As I get older however, it just seems that a fine sixgun should wear wood, so I've actually replaced the rubber with wood, either factory or aftermarket, Again, nothing against the comfort and functionality of the rubber. Just an aging shooters wants and desires.

And just to be completely truthful, every November the Grippers go back on the pre 29 for deer season, then come back off when the season ends.
