Fond recollections of the Ruger S6 series...
It was my first centerfire revolver bought a year or so after I started working at an area sporting goods/LGS. Got to be buddies with a slightly older guy there ( I was 16) and he let me shoot his Ruger S6 blued 4".
Also, at the time, S&W M66's were very hard to come by at LGS's, supposedly because the LE market was being concentrated on. Can recall selling many S6 revolvers in SS due to M66's not being available.
I put a S6 4" SS on layaway and my Dad came in to do the paperwork so it could be mine. Soon after started loading for it. I was in love with it.
A few years later it went away on a trade. Always sorta missed it.
The GP's, first marketed as 'an improved design', IMO just weren't.
Picked this one up on 'broker a few years back - it's even the same year as my first S6, 1975. Numrich had the smooth target grips which work great.
The S6 series was one of Ruger's best efforts.
