I'd hesitate to say that sight shooting training has no value in self defense situations.
Sight training builds muscle memory essential in point and shoot defensive shooting. It also serves to teach POA/POI and the effects of flinch and other defects in trigger control.

That said, all of my pocket carry pistols have the sights removed to eliminate snags and hangups on presentation. None of them have lightened trigger pulls either.
