Actually, Sonny's Bren Ten was a .45 only
internally, because no one made 10mm blanks for cop shows back then. But .45acp blanks were available. So D&D gave Mann's prop team a 10mm BT (exterior appearance), but set it up internally with a .45 barrel, extractor, etc. and .45 mags.
On certain episodes of Seasons 1 & 2, where there's a close-up shot from the side during a gunfight scene, and Crockett is holding or lifting the gun up, you can actually see the 'Cal. 10mm AUTO' rollmark on the hard-chromed slide. You'll find a couple such scenes in the S-2 opener, 'Prodigal Son.'

The frames were stainless and the slides were blued steel, but they wanted the Bren to show up better on TV so the had the slide hard-chromed.

Yes, to show up better on camera during low-light or night scenes.
