I've changed Glock day sights to night sights and replaced dead/dying night sights with fresh ones on Glocks many times.

I clamped the slide as low as I could in a vise between pieces of wood and drifted the sights out with a brass punch. I tapped the sight as close to the base, or on the base and it worked fine.
