I recall trying to work up max loads with H110/125 Gr JHP and I could not go as high as the loading manual showed because I got high pressure signs at about 19.5 grains, so I stopped there. Of course this was a model 19, back in the mid 1970s. Each gun can be different in how they show pressure. I did not know enough to measure cylinder throats or groove diameter back then either.
