The guns were a total flop on the civilian market but saw some limited adoption by certain restricted LEO agencies hamstrung by politicians who were afraid AR-15s would appear too “military” to the general public.

I’ve read mixed reports on the reliability and durability of the 7615s. They are inferior in firepower to an AR, lack aftermarket parts support, and used examples cost quite a bit more than an entry grade AR. Most seen for sale on the secondary market are thrashed LEO trade ins with mangled stocks and worn finishes.

These makes 0 sense when cheap quality AR-15s are so plentiful these days. They put police officers at a distinct disadvantage and they were solely invented by politicians and bean counters as a PR-based decision, not a practical one.

The Remington 7600 series are interesting guns but are best left as the hunting rifles they were originally designed to be IMHO.
