Now, having said that, if you see a nickel K-22 it most probably is a refinished gun. But, there are noted some special order one-offs that may be out there.

I have a special order pre 17 in nickle and I am way to afraid to shoot mine also. But the last owner was just fine with it.
A while back I bought a factory refinished nickle k22 to take to the range.It looks absolutely original. They didn't even stamp any rework marks on it. The only tell is that the trademark was restamped and is a bit prominent. I put some KB grips on it and it draws attention when I go to the range.
I would have really liked to see you get the consecutive nickle k22 or even the blued one on the other side. Wouldn't that be interesting. I assume since you both have each others info you will talk again someday
