Your post reminded me that I didn't address the spare ammunition consideration.
With the exception of one particular day's excursion, I carried a single spare magazine (6-9rds). The exception was a day when I decided to put an
additional double mag carrier in my car (7rd mags), giving me a total of 3 spare 7rd mags while in my car.
Kinda reminded me of before my retirement, when I was wearing an issued 4513TSW and wore either 1 or 2 spare 7rd or 8rd (standard for the issued 4566TSW) mags in my plainclothes assignment, but often had another couple of spare mags (and some boxed ammunition) in my unmarked car.
