The manual had implied that #122D extractor rack nut and 122C extractor rack screw shouldn't be disassembled after leaving the factory, but knowing it can be done is half the battle. I got it apart and the spring was in bad shape. Now I will be looking for a replacement. Thanks very much for the help.
