Like you, I've gone around a bit with this, and the best solution I've found are R2S J-frame targets. I think these came from ebay. Or maybe a LGS. Can't remember.
I use the M63 mostly when bird hunting. Partridge (i.e.; ruffed grouse) like to flush up into trees at times, rather than simply flee the zip code. They know I won't shoot them from a tree with my shotgun. Unsporting. But they don't know I've got the .22...
