My best shot was my very first time to shoot a center fire rifle. I was maybe 13 and had a school buddy whose dad had brought back a K98k from WWII, but no ammo for it. Somewhere I found exactly one 8x57 round, so he and I went down to the river bottoms to shoot it. We flipped to see who got the honor, and I won. The only thing we had to shoot at was a small glass mustard jar we found on the ground there. I put it out about 50 yards, and whipped up the rifle and fired it - hitting that mustard jar. Was I ever proud, even though it was about 99% luck. Seems like it happened only yesterday, as I remember every detail.
