I was shooting at an old gravel pit in East King County some years back, and there were a couple guys there with a surplus .303 Enfield set up about 20 yards to our left, making shots at clay targets set up around 75 yards out. They were churning up a lot of dirt with the occasional hit on target. I walked over to see what they were shooting and the rifle owner offered me a shot. As I was drawing down on the target, for some reason I had the feeling the sights were off so I aimed about three inches left and an inch or so low. The owner said "It shoots a little left"...I said Yup as I squeezed the trigger, obliterating the clay. I opened the action, said "Nice rifle", and walked off not believing I had actually hit the thing! Both the shooters just stood there with their mouths actually hanging open....
