I thought it was going to be single digit serial numbers. I held Winchester model 70 serial #6 years ago.

I saw a Winchester model 1886 in 45-70 that wore serial #1 but was remanufactured by someone and it was a new number. It was offered to me for $2,750.00 thirty years ago before it's history was known. The Cody museum told me that they have serial #1 in their possession, but knew of the very gun I had seen. It was again offered to me for $1,500.00 last year. Unfortunately my friend who knows the owner has recently passed so I can't help anyone who should want it.
