I'm not aware of coated or plated hollow base bullets. Maybe someone else can inform. The Speer and Hornady lead HB have proven to be the absolute best performers in my .38 Specials. Any leading might be attributed to too much horsepower or perhaps poor bullet diameter to bore ratio. That said, and not being a competitive shooter, I've settled on mostly 158 g. coated lead. There might be a tiny drop off in accuracy, but not much, given old eyes and hands. I like the cleaning characteristics of coated as well as the easier chambering.
