To me the lock has no upside and lots of downsides! It is NOT a safety devise to be used during carry and when not being used should be either hidden or in a safe. The last thing one could ever want is the lock to inadvertently engage and jam up the gun when you need it the most - and it HAS happened more than on occasion.

Aside form which, the NO LOCK earlier guns were better built to a much much higher quality standard IMHO. To newbies who don't really understand what the ruckus was about - it's hard to get across.
