Not exactly the case..... In the "olden days" we would do this modification to provide a hammer much less prone to snag in a pocket.

Some guys would simply grind off the spur on the original hammer, but this would lighten the hammer too much, resulting in unreliable ignition.

Hence...We used the hammer from the Bodyguard.
