I had a buddy who was prison guard. Along about 1980 the prison got M16s from a govt program. Buddy got me job of tearing them down and cleaning them. The prison had Winchester 07s, 351s. They had 28 of them.
3 looked brand new. Head guard said they were reserved for Warden, Asst Warden and him for deer rifles. I wanted them bad but couldn’t swing it at the time. They wanted 28 M1 carbines in trade. Carbines weren’t big money back then but still to much for me to handle. Most of the 07 weren’t in best shape from guards dragging them around.
