Correct. Which is why using Hoppe's #9 to clean a nickel S&W isn't really a problem, as so many people have stated. However, to be on the safe side, I think it is unwise to
soak a S&W revolver in any solvent that is ammonia based. Cleaning the barrel and charge holes and wiping down the surface with one is not a big deal.
