A hard chrome finish is nothing to sneeze at. If done right it is very durable, and more attractive than some more modern refinishing techniques.

The Model 19 would be more readily convertible to cash, and the target hammer and trigger make it a little more valuable. Some people consider the model 19 the best example of a S&W revolver of the period. The grips on the Model 19 may be original, and they are also target grips. People are generally willing to pay more for guns with the "3T's" (target hammer, target trigger, and target grips). In good condition, the grips sell for well over $100 on ebay. They are usually called "K-frame Target Stocks with Speed Loader cut" (the Model 19 frame is K size). The most popular sizes S&W made at the time were J, K, L, and N.
