My first training officer carried a 4" nickel M27 on duty, and a 3 1/2" nickel M27 off duty... I always thought they were a striking pair, though with the .38spl ammo we were limited to for revolvers, N frames seemed a bit overkill. Our Sheriff at the time was an old school sort and hated "Magnums" of any sort...

Almost 30 years later, we're finally getting a new duty spec .38 load, but it's only for backups nowadays.
