Hate to suggest something obvious but if the pistol only had a magazine or two through it before you bought it maybe it just needs some range time. I own a Ruger that I bought my dad new and inherited when he died. Thing jammed like crazy and I understood why dad stuck with his revolver. After a couple hundred rounds through it I noticed it was no longer jamming.
