No one has mentioned the SHTF scenario where if extra ammo and parts are needed, National Guard armories may be a resupply point.

I never cared much for ARs, preferring "real guns" made from walnut and steel, like M1s, M14, Mine 14s, etc. My PD had some 9mm ARs that were OK. When I got to Afghanistan, I was issued a Bushmaster M4 with the three shot burst feature. It was OK too and I started to like ARs a little bit.

A couple of years ago, I decided to get an AR, "just because." I got a good price on a Del-Ton, which is a decent entry level carbine. The accuracy is "minute of pie plate" which is good enough for me.

So yes, I would buy one if I didn't have one.
