I have also loaded a 124 FMJ at 1.09" oal in my 5" pistol.
While accuracy was ok, it did loose 61fps with a max load of HS-6 & BE86 powder, for some odd reason.

A short OAL is a good way to get the most out of w231 for fps....
if the load is safe in your pistol.

Some stated loading a Gold Dot at 1.10" OAL.

In my C9 3.5" 9mm pistol, a 1.08 & 1.13" oal showed me failures to eject. which is not a good thing for a SD load.
The factory 1.12" has worked for me in all my pistols......

However the 124 gr. "HAP" style jhp bullet works great in my pistols with a oal of 1.075".
