Default Taurus GX4 Quick Review

I bought a Taurus GX4 about two weeks ago, but didn't find time to shoot it until this afternoon. The GX4 is Taurus's answer to the Sig P365 and the like. A very small high capacity 9mm. The standard mags (it comes with 2) hold 11 rounds. I also bought a couple of extended mags that hold 13 rounds. The fit and finish on the pistol is exemplary. I couldn't find any blemishes or rough spots. Rifling is sharp and appears to be well executed.

I put 92 rounds through the little pistol this afternoon including 22 rounds of Fiocchi 115 grain FMJ, 50 rounds of Blazer Brass FMJ, and 20 rounds of 124 grain Gold Dots. All rounds fed and fired with no stoppages of any kind. The 11 round mags are pretty easy to load, but those 13 rounders make it extremely difficult to load the last round. I'm not the best marksman under any circumstances, but I have trouble with a lot of small pistols tending to shoot low and left. I had the same results with the Taurus especially with the 11 round magazines where my pinky hangs below the grip. The 13 rounders allow a full grip, and those feel more controllable. Taurus sells pinky extension baseplates for the standard mags, and I will definitely be ordering a couple of those. I need to shoot it more, but the little Taurus proved itself accurate and reliable enough for its intended use as an easily concealable self defense pistol.
