Yes, I'd feel well-enough armed with an in good working order and well-maintained Model 10 that I worked to stay handy with, but I would like a spare just in case.
Less important than the pistol or the ammo -- provided they're reliable -- is your proficiency with them, their immediate availability, and a decent working plan in the unlikely event you need them -- all while keeping them out of reach from your little ones.
After that, so long as you're -- as the saying goes -- not doing stupid things in stupid places with stupid people, a Model 10 is enough for a husband and father living a quiet, upright life.
