“Good ammo” and “standard ammo” aren’t very specific recommendations. I recommend spending some time reading this information about 38 Special ammo fired out of 2” and 4” revolvers. Spoiler - Federal HST standard pressure ‘micro’ expanded to double the size of FMJ- with good penetration. You’ve got one gun, make the most of it. If you can’t find it, (I haven’t found it in 38 Special myself), several Winchester loads were close.
