I grew up in the same time period and while the model 29 would have been nice, new ones were bringing $400 and up, and I bought my model 19 for half that. Didn't get a 44 magnum until we won a 29-6 in our club's raffle in 97. The day we won it, I told my 16 year old son that it was his ticket was the winner. He has had it since he turned 21 and i have a 29-3 in nickel that i picked up in 2008.
