It is not hard to machine in the groove and slot for elevation nut with the right cutters. Getting the frame set up level and lined up takes about as long as any of the cuts. Cut the shelf for the main piece using an 1/4" end mill, center on the top strap and go down depth of sight tang. The tang is slightly over 1/4" wide so do a clean up pass on each side until tang slides in easy. The little elevation nut slot takes a special cutter, You can buy a real small keyway cutter or grind a 1/8" 2 flute end mill so it only has 2 thin flys. Then cut a 1/8" slot the right depth then use the modified cutter or key way cutter to put in the side grooves,
