Default CZ P07 impressions and range report

I bought a CZ P07 on Wednesday from the local Academy store. Paid $542 all in, not the best price but any other option would take more time/hassle. Took an hour and a half to get approval as 1st go I had put my middle name on the electronic 4473, something not on my DL. Oops. It's comical to be walked to the door and handed "the package."

Opening the box, there are 2 of everything: magazines, backstraps and "+2" mag baseplates. I installed them immediately. Took it apart and dry everywhere so I lubed it up. Out to the range today, 109 flawless rounds, 100 115 gr ball, 9 rds 124 gr Fed HST. Fed everything and holding 18 rds (I only loaded 15-16) the ammo went fast, like 7 mag loads. The target doesn't lie, 60 rds (2 15 rd mags per target), more than half fired D/A at 50 ft.

I still have no breath control and my grip is still weak.

Pro's on the gun:
Mag capacity is 17 + 1. It's like a Model 10 with 2 speedloaders!
Recoil is minimal due to low bore axis.
P 07 is 34.4 oz with 18 rds aboard, 6906 is 31.4 oz with 12 rds.
Out of the box 109 rds with HST topping off mags and interspersed with
115 gr ball were flawless. a few hundred more "no fail" outings and I will carry it.
Ergonomics are excellent as is. 2 different backstraps if'n you need.
Simple construction and takedown. No wrestling with the recoil spring.
Size: here's a pic of my carry gun on top of the P07 with the +2 mag extensions. P07 seems bigger in the sense like the 6906 subjected to "balloon inflation." Don't know how to better describe it.

Cons:
Slide seems like 95% of the gun's weight. It's massive.
Lower is very thin. I'm not sure of durability
D/A trigger is HEAVY. It may be "Omega" but takes some squeeze. It may be that I'm so weak right now but I hope it improves with use.
Trigger "bit" my finger a few times resetting. Maybe I'm too far up but it shouldn't do that.
Square trigger guard; I hate that. I know some folks put their non-trigger finger there but I don't. This also keeps it from fitting my 6906 holster.
Minor annoyance: There are several diagonal "skate board tape" type lines on the lower just forward of the trigger. Totally unnecessary in my opinion and definitely impedes smooth draw from IWB holster. I'd Dremel them off but it is a new gun.
All said, I am very happy with this purchase. CZ has a winner for those of us that want an exposed hammer on a carry gun for that extra "something." A decocker completes the system. We can only hope CZ can bring their brand of "useful practicality" to their future Colt's offerings. Joe
