Violence is caused by violent people. The methods they use to carry out their violence varies by whatever tools they have at the moment, as has been done since rocks were invented.

I can't recall where I heard it, but?
"That's like Rosie O'Dumbell blaming being fat, on spoons"?

A railroad tie "ain't no gun"!
I have not ....... nor will I ever see bullets come from a railroad tie ......
........ save for expended ones that were perhaps dug out of them!

There is only one way to fix this. Serial #'s on all railroad ties, registered to each owner and a ten day waiting period before you get one.(you will need a permit)Then there should be a lost/stolen ordinance passed to stop straw pruchases. That should take care of any further problems....right?

It is very easy for us to forget that these people are not logical. If they were, they wouldn't be anti-gun.

Most humans are very creative. They will find a way to be violent with a gun, a railroad tie, baseball bat, crow bar, knife or any other thing that is handy. Banning any one of those just increases that creativity.

Yup,
Nasty combination, a large brain and an opposable thumb?
But perhaps I've been careless by mentioning it? Maybe the Brady bunch will want our thumbs and frontal lobes next! In the current climate, NOTHING would surprise me?

I heard the story about the beating, but did not see the film;however,I find it very dificult to believe that someone could use a railroad tie to even hit another person. Most of the railroad ties I have seen are about 8 inches square,Nine feet long,(Or longer where 2 tracks come together) and are about 70 to 100 lbs.each. I remember makeing a retaining wall out of some ties a few years back, and my neighbor and I had trouble even with the two of us getting them into place.
I don`t want to be a nit picker, but to me this sounds like the Brady people calling an 1100 Remington a automatic assault weapon.
They may have used a 2x4, or even a 4x4,but a railroad tie ? I don`t think so.

Mayor Dinkins of NYC cited a fatal stabbing with a screwdriver as proving the need for gun control.
Stupid (and dishonest) is as stupid (and dishonest) does.

A guy once told me that he could kill me with just a piece of paper.
I looked at him and then asked: Is that lined or unlined paper?

Guess the media makes it more dramatic by calling it a railroad tie! You would have to be a very, very, very "healthy"person to pick up a railroad tie and use it as a weapon. If you could do that, you probably wouldnt need it.

But very much like someone saying "let no crisis go to waste". Any current J school graduate wouldn't be able to connect enough dots to make the leap of judgement it'd take to observe the logic you just presented Speedshooter.

Railroad tie is to wood as assault weapon is to firearm.
If there's a way to negatively sensationalize an inanimate object, the anti's will find a way.
