PA gets expanded Castle Doctrine! HB 40
Our Governor signed the bill into law just about an hour ago. It is an expansion on the existing law. We can now use deadly force at home and any place where we can legally be... no need to retreat. We also don't have to worry about civil lawsuits.

And so it begins! Part of a comment from a local paper's website.
QUOTE - "For one, firearms should only be carried and owned by government officials. (Or government authorized personal security guards who work for affluent people, such as myself and my family.) Citizens have no need to own or possess such dangerous instruments. The second amendment, the right to have firearms, was enacted prior to our government having enough members in it to keep us all safe."

I'm very glad that Ed Rendell is out as well.
Now if he'd only get fired from doing the Eagles post game show on Comcast. I'd love to go back to watching it, but i can't stomach him. He is even more clueless on that show than he was as a Governor.

Being from PA, I would like to point out that there was a terrific grass roots effort for the past 7 years, and in particular this year, by leaders and members of the PAFOA.ORG group, organizing letter writing and email sending and phone calling each of our state Senators and state Representatives, keeping up the pressure, trying to overcome the bias and 'superstitions' of citizens' gun ownership, and getting so many more sponsors for the bill this time.
I am fortunate in that my representatives are 2A and gun advocates. I only had to contact them a couple of times on this.
This is how you get things changed in America - citizens getting involved. You can overcome those densely populated cities that are in some states, just make yourself and your opinions known to your representatives. And then later remind them again.
There are perfectly intelligent people who think the mere presence of a gun will start blood running in the street. We have to nicely but firmly remind them that law-abiding citizens are just that - law-abiding citizens. Carrying a firearm does not make law-abiding citizens suddenly criminal.
I know, I'm preaching to the choir. Sorry. I'm very happy that we finally have a fair form of Castle Doctrine. 59 more days and it becomes law in PA!
