The ILA has a neat "mail your congresscritter" application on their site - very handy. (You can opt out of getting NRA mailings even if you use it.)

Unfortunately, there are too many differences between the various states in the licensing for CCW. many states do not have any shooting qualification requirement. Compared to universal drivers licensing all the states are very similar, and no license is issued the first time without a "drivers test". Until there is a uniformity in the licensing requirements from state to state, there will be no reciprocity act passed.

Agreed.
Agreed. Given the current state of this nation, your predictions will most likely be accurate. Thank God our founding fathers weren't defeatists!

I don't think it has much chance of passing this time around. However each time something like this gets introduced and people get a chance to think about it the odds get better, so maybe some day it will pass.

It's a shame that many legislators will probably feel this way. I hope they come up soon with a universal testing and licensing scheme for our other constitution rights, too...

You mean like literacy tests for voting and such? I think that was tried in some States to control who could vote. Not that there is any correlation between stetting standards for voters and CCW holders. I wouldn't try and say that....
